Nissan Bladeglider honored at Rio Olympics

First unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Bladeglidder made an appearance as a working prototype at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The Nissan Bladeglider represents a combination of performance, environmental awareness and intelligent mobility.

Nissan Bladeglider: a focus on green and intelligent transportation

The name Bladeglider comes from Nissan designers' goal of developing a vehicle that "flies. With its quiet ride accentuated by its electric motor and aerodynamic shape, the Bladeglider will effectively make its driver feel as if he or she is flying.

The Nissan Bladeglider is powered by two electric motors capable of reaching 190 km/h, and 100 km/h in just five seconds. Taking advantage of a torque vectoring system, the Bladeglider promises to offer a truly dynamic driving experience as the electric motors integrated into the rear wheels can modulate the torque sent to either wheel, ensuring that there is always plenty of traction.

Nissan is certainly one of the leaders in electric vehicles, and not just in terms of concepts. In fact, the Nissan Leaf is currently the most popular EV on the market. Concepts like the Bladeglider show that Nissan has not finished impressing us with these ecological vehicles.
