The 2018 Nissan Kicks SUV and the new generation Nissan LEAF were unveiled a few weeks ago at the Montreal International Auto Show.
This is the first time that these two very important models for Nissan have grazed Canadian soil. And if the reaction of the SIAM visitors is any indication, they will be very popular when they go on sale in the next few months. Let's take a closer look at these two new Nissan products.
2018 Nissan Kicks
Introduced at the Los Angeles International Auto Show last November, the 2019 Nissan Kicks will be Nissan's entry-level SUV when it arrives in June. Despite this, there will be nothing low-end about it as it will offer cutting-edge safety and connectivity technologies as well as a modern, fuel-efficient engine.
In fact, the new 2018 Nissan Kicks will be powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be paired with a modern and efficient continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that is expected to provide the new Kicks with some of the best fuel economy in its segment.
It will also feature technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as an optional BOSE audio system. On the safety front, it will offer standard automatic braking and a perimeter display that can detect moving objects.
2018 Nissan LEAF
The 2018 Nissan LEAF is the second generation of Canada's pioneering electric car. Improved in every way, the 2018 Nissan LEAF offers more than 240 kilometers of range now, a 40 kWh battery and a more powerful engine with 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.
The new LEAF also features some very modern technologies such as the e-Pedal function, which allows the vehicle to be driven using only the accelerator pedal. When you release the right pedal, the braking force is similar to that obtained when you apply the brakes.
The LEAF also gets a system called ProPilot that uses various radars and sensors to keep the LEAF in the center of the lane automatically. In other words, the technology is able to adjust the vehicle's direction automatically, and you'll feel the steering wheel turn under your hands. ProPilot can also apply the brakes if another vehicle is in front of you.
