Three ways the 2017 Nissan Titan stands out from other trucks

The second-generation Nissan Titan hit the market less than two years ago, and quickly it became clear that Nissan intended to make its mark in the full-size pickup segment. With its rugged yet refined looks, powerful engines, and imposing size, the 2017 Nissan Titan is able to confidently compete against established American pickup trucks. Here are three ways the 2017 Nissan Titan stands out from the pack.

Its towing capacity

Nissan understood early on that pickup truck owners want to use their trucks on a daily basis, but they also need a vehicle that will be able to keep up when towing or hauling heavy loads.

In this respect, the 2017 Nissan Titan has nothing to envy its competition. Available in both regular and XD trim levels, the Nissan Titan can tow up to 9,770 pounds or 4,330 kilos with its standard V8 engine, but it can also be equipped with a Cummins diesel engine that allows it to tow up to 12,350 pounds or 5,606 kilos depending on the version. That brings us to the second point.

Its Cummins diesel engine

The Cummins name is well known to pickup truck owners who use their trucks for work. Rugged, reliable and efficient, Cummins engines surprise every time with their high power and abundant torque.

So the 2017 Nissan Titan XD has the advantage of being able to offer this engine to its owners. The turbodiesel V8 in question makes 310 horsepower and a whopping 555 lb-ft of torque, and as previously mentioned it can tow over 12,000 pounds.

The other engine option is a 5.6-liter V8 with 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque available at just 3,400 rpm.

Its refinement

There's no doubt that the 2017 Nissan Titan is one of the toughest trucks in its class. That said, it's also capable of meeting the needs of those who want to use their truck for daily commuting. Its spacious and refined interior combined with the premium fit and finish and the many versions available make the Titan a luxurious and particularly comfortable vehicle on the road. It's the full-size truck that can do it all.
